My Maternal Grandmother

Today I finished my collection of memories of my Grandmother, Katherine Kolby. Grandma died in 1991.

This memoir was a joy to work on it. I sent it to my siblings, my parents, and a few cousins.

I possess her life history, which is a combination of her own life history and excerpts of her journal. Grandma died before she completed her autobiography, and so my grandfather lovingly finished it.

However, this is my own personal memory of her. She was a charitable, kind, gentle woman, and my heart wrapped around hers in stronger love as I remembered her.

I love you grandma! I dearly miss you grandma!

Finishing my family group record!

My family history files

For my beginning family history course, I was required to complete a family group record. I chose to document and verify my parents family. It was a lot of work to gather, scan in, and type in all the verified information for myself, my parents, and my siblings - but it feels amazing to have it done.

I documented all major events and LDS ordinances for each member of my family.

I felt the Spirit of Elijah and the importance of this work throughout this assignment. I love that feeling, and now yearn for it.

This family group record never will have to be researched again, because the records are accurate (proper) and consistent (faithful). About 95% of it is totally verified by primary and secondary sources.

My mother took excellent care of all records, and I am especially thankful to her for cherishing them enough to save them in pristine condition.

I also have made an inventory of all my family history records, made files for my eight sets of great-grandparents, and have begun my quest to be successful in my genealogy and family history.

This blog will record my goals, challenges, and accomplishments concerning family history.

I don't know who will be interested in this blog.

It was suggested in my course to create something like this, and so I begin..................
